Our Leadership Team

Meet the team driving Carers Matter Norfolk forward, making our vision of better support for carers in Norfolk and beyond a reality.

Maria Plumb – Family Carer Practitioner manager

Maria manages the team of Family Carer Practitioners who deliver one-to-one support in the community and carry out Carers Assessments. Maria managed the Norfolk Carers Helpline / Advice Line for 14 years from 2003-2017 and has extensive knowledge, skills and experience in developing and delivering local services to carers. She has lived experience of caring.

Sharon Brooks – Co-Production Lead

Sharon is Co-Production Lead for the Carers’ Voice and Membership Team within Carers Matter Norfolk and is also the Chief Officer for Carers Voice Norfolk & Waveney, which she has led since 2012 achieving independent charitable status for the organisation in 2015. She has many years experience as an Independent Consultant. Within the criminal justice system Sharon was Non-Executive Director of the Norfolk & Suffolk Probation Trust from 2007-2014 with specific responsibilities for Diversity, Women Offenders, Children and Families and Housing. She has lived experience of caring.

Andy Barber – Communications Lead

Andy leads the engagement team at Caring Together who deliver the communications with Carers Matter Norfolk. This includes looking after the website, social media and other resources, as well as dealing with publicity and media enquiries.

Christine Futter – Education & Training Lead

Christine leads the Education & Training Team within Carers Matter Norfolk and is also the Chief Operating Officer of Norfolk & Suffolk Care Support Ltd which she has led since 2011. Christine is a highly experienced HCPC registered Social Worker and Senior Procurement Manager and previously worked at Norfolk County Council for much of her career. She brings a wealth of technical knowledge, skills and experience in contracting and procurement and social care practice and training. Christine has a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Norfolk’s social care sector.
