Devised and led by mental health charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, Time to Change is a growing social movement dedicated to encouraging people to have open conversations about mental health. Today is Time to Talk Day, a day designed to prompt such discussions. When one in four people will experience a mental health problem in any given year, it’s crucial to break the stigma and challenge misconceptions associated with mental health.

Time to Change’s objectives are as follows

  1. Improving public attitudes and behaviour towards people with mental health problems.
  2. Reducing the amount of discrimination that people with mental health problems report in their personal relationships, their social lives and at work.
  3. Making sure even more people with mental health problems can take action to challenge stigma and discrimination in their communities, in workplaces, in schools and online.
  4. Creating a sustainable campaign that will continue long into the future.

We’re pleased to report that the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Trust have pledged their support for Time to Change, along with 980 organisations across the two counties. The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has signed the Time to Change employer pledge, as have the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service and many more! The pledge signifies a commitment to raising awareness of mental health in the workplace and promoting positive action to improve mental wellbeing and acceptance of mental health issues.
