From Monday 4 July the Carers Matter Norfolk advice line will be changing its hours. This will help us have more staff available to speak to people looking after family members and friends at times that work for them.

From Monday 4 July the advice line will be open 9am to 5pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and 9am to 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday.

Specialist advice service manager Ruth Young explained, “In the past we have had our lines open for longer hours, and our staff rota reflected the need to cover those.

“What we have found from the times carers are calling us, from comments made when we call carers, and from other feedback is that having more staff available to make and answer calls during the day would be more effective.

“For many carers evenings are when they are preparing and eating meals, involved in bedtime routines and other tasks. So, they have told us, speaking during the day is preferrable and more convenient for many of them. We will now have more staff available at these times. And we will be retaining two days a week of later hours for those who do want to speak to us in the evening, something which is particularly important for those carers who are juggling caring with paid work during the day.”

The advice line team can be contacted on 0800 083 1148 or at info@carersmatternorfolk.org.uk.

Carers can also either sign up or be referred for support via the homepage of our website at carersmatternorfolk.org.uk/
