This January, around 2.4 million people, aged 16 and over, who are registered with a GP practice in England will receive an invitation from NHS England to take part in a GP Patient survey.
We know that GP practices have had to make changes in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, so it is more important than ever that patients share their experiences, especially carers.
The survey will identify what’s working well and what can be improved. It also helps to identify inequalities in experiences too, as the results are analysed across different protected characteristics.
Invitations to take part in the survey will be sent to a sample of people from each of the more than 6,500 GP practices in England. If you are a carer and you receive an invitation, we urge you to fill it in.
The survey has a question that asks if you are an unpaid carer and how many hours of care you provide. Answers to this question will provide a valuable source of information for local health and care planning systems, which use the data to shape carers’ support locally.
