Diss Dove Dementia Cafe
Contact details
The Dove Dementia Cafe takes place on the first Monday of every month at Diss United Reformed Church (opposite B&M). It is open from 10am-1pm and is free of charge.
During the first hour of the cafe, hot drinks and cake or biscuits are available while people chat with friends, play games, do jigsaw puzzles and / or try to do our monthly quiz. This hour is finished with 10 minutes of gentle exercises, followed by the answers to the quiz.
During the second hour, carers have the opportunity to go to a separate room to take part in their own support group – sometimes outside speakers / professionals join this too. Meanwhile everyone else takes part in prepared activities, supported by their many volunteers. These activities vary month by month. For example, these may be musical, artistic or literary in nature. Occasionally outside entertainers join for this hour. During this hour attendees have the opporunity to take part in seated bowls if this is preferable to the activity on offer.
Finally everyone comes back together for the final hour for a tasty, light lunch.
The Dove Dementia Cafe is a fun and friendly group which offers support to both the person living with sementia and their carer. A warm welcome awaits all who come along!
