Dementia Carers Count
Contact details
Dementia Carers Count (DCC) is a national charity dedicated to supporting family and friends caring for someone with dementia. Their services for carers are offered free and include face-to-face and online courses that give them the opportunity to learn, connect with other carers and develop strategies, skills and build confidence to navigate the highs and lows of caring for those with dementia. They learn how to make life manageable and maintain their own health and wellbeing that is vital in being able to support those with dementia. All DCC’s services are designed and delivered by expert health and care professionals who have experience supporting people with dementia and their families. Sessions cover a variety of topics, with time built in for carers to reflect, get their questions answered by professionals and relate the information to their own caring circumstances. Carers who have attended the courses say that the services have made a lasting difference to their lives, that their practical and considerate approach has inspired confidence in them in their caring role. Aside from face-to-face courses, carers can visit the Virtual Carers Centre (VCC) on the DCC website and register for Live Online Learning sessions. The VCC contains a wide range of videos, audio recordings and articles developed to support carers, which they can dip in and out of at any time. Here, carers can access guidance and advice from healthcare professionals and listen to the stories of other family dementia carers.
