The Our Day Out project is a programme of free, high-quality creative activities for all older people, including those living with:

  • Loneliness or isolation
  • Early to mid-stage dementia
  • Other long-term health conditions
  • Limited mobility
  • Mental health conditions

Our Day Out is run by Creative Arts East. It focuses on providing music and movement-based activities for older people in order to improve wellbeing, decrease feelings of isolation and loneliness, and create new social connections by bringing people together.

The programme has won a Royal Society for Public Health Award, is academically evaluated and produces statistically significant results.

During the pandemic Creative Arts East changed delivery into free creative wellbeing packs full of activities based on a different creative theme, and these were hugely successful. However, as restrictions are lifted in-person workshops are returning.

They will be running sessions in Dereham, Watton, Attleborough, Thetford, Wells-Next-The-Sea and Hunstanton twice a month.

Each of these sessions will be facilitated by professional artists, and the theme for the next few months is using archive films to inspire movement.

They will endeavour to make all sessions as COVID-safe as possible and are following their own strict risk assessment policy. This includes staff wearing masks and regularly testing, hand-sanitising stations, social distancing etc.

Creative Arts East are looking forward to welcoming both existing participants and new faces back to the in-person sessions.
